Dom McAllister, the 22 year-old London singer/songwriter, follows on from his compelling debut track ‘In Time’ with new release ‘Walking’ – the second drop from Dom’s upcoming debut EP. It’s another statement of real talent from an emerging artist who’s creating serious waves on the London circuit as well as BBCR1Xtra – all from a yong star who gets shouted out by Jess Glynne on the regular.
With ‘Walking’ Dom again channels a beautifully simple combination of snappy production, piano and the kind of natural soul vocal that underlines why his first musical love was Motown legend Sam Cooke.
Speaking on the track, Dom states: “It’s about being there for a friend. People who you’ve known for years or people who you’ve quickly become close with always go through ups and downs. I know that supporting your friends through their turmoil really makes the relationship so much stronger, especially when they’re watching out for you too. “Walking” helps me to put certain things into perspective.”
Dom’s second release again feels inherently modern yet timeless – and it’s the flourishes of natural soul that come across in the 22 year-old’s vocal that really excites: Jamie Woon, and Kwabs’ strain of London soul spring to mind. An assured second step from an artist that continues to feel like something very special indeed.
