Kent born, emerging London based artist Sam Sure was propelled into the spotlight following a collaboration with uber-hype producer TCTS on ‘You’. The tastemaker collaboration was to set the tone of things to come from the young artist.
Sam’s heartfelt verses soon caught the attention of Zane Lowe and Annie Mac (Radio 1) and was welcomed into Black Butter Records, where he joined the likes of Gorgon City, Rudimental and Clean Bandit. Sure returned with his debut solo single ‘Hunger’ – supported by Pharrell Williams on Beats 1, before the wistful ‘Cracks’ cemented the quality control on his output as a serious one to watch.
Proceeding to rack up over 1M Soundcloud plays, a tour with Years & Years on their sold-out UK headline tour and painting the backdrop for Skepta and Fekky’s ‘Way Too Much’ video, it’s both hard and a pleasure to try to classify a figure whose talents stretch from street art to profound storytelling.
New release ‘Sirens’ is a fresh slice of one of London’s most interesting and layered electronic artists. With Sam’s unique vocal over a sophisticated, trademark London-centric production, Sam has followed the release of his critically-acclaimed debut EP ‘Catching Feelings’ with another cool, complex gem. Premiered on KCRW, Sam is ready for another bout of well-deserved hype on this one.
